The Project:
With Canada’s 150th Birthday as the theme, Granville Island Brewing was looking for a beer label to use for the celebration. The challenge was to incorporate this occasion, hand illustration and/or lettering and the breweries West Coast vibe, passion for quality, ability to be approachable and history in Canada. They also were looking for a label to help them stand out from their competitors. The trend was highly detailed illustrations such as the labels used by Driftwood Brewing.

Drafts:
Below are a few of my digital drafts for this project.
Final Design:
This label was designed to incorporate Canadian patriotism and local West Coast pride. The patriotism stems from the RCMP Stetson and Poppy, Canadian Rockies and Maple Leaves. Local pride stems from the Honey Bee’s and Hops as the brewery chooses to source these from local vendors. Custom illustration was used to give the label a unique and hand crafted feel. As this label has a different shape from typical beer labels, it will aid them in standing out on the shelves.
